Podere Il Sorbo takes its name from the field on which it is located, evidently so called because of the large quantity of rowan trees that the labourers, coming mainly from Monte Amiata at the beginning of the 20th century, came to " dicioccare " that is to uproot to make room for new fertile fields for cultivation.

The farm was built in the 1950s with the agrarian reforms of the Maremma Authority and assigned to the sharecropper Ciacci Primo and his wife Amelia, who however had lived in the area with their family since the 19th century.
At that time, the farm owned, in addition to land, sheep and cattle, and subsequently underwent several modifications, following changes in agricultural management and the takeover of the company by his son Pierangelo.
Today it appears as a rural villa renovated according to vernacular architectural styles, while still retaining its original layout. The property extends over approximately 70 hectares, including arable land, tree crops, and Mediterranean scrub. We grow wheat, have a small vegetable garden, and produce wine and oil, the latter for direct sale.

In 2020, as the family passed the ownership to our daughters, we decided to bring our dream to life and combine our farming with an agriturismo. We worked hard for five years to build, design, and renovate an old outbuilding. Our primary decision was to use traditional and eco-sustainable building materials: we combed the fields for stones that were then split and selected to be suitable for exposed stonework. We favored chestnut wood and hand-crafted bricks. The interior design concept was based on sustainability: saving drinking water by using toilets and showers with limited water flow; using clean energy from a solar/photovoltaic system; restoring antique furniture or purchasing furniture made from materials from renewable sources; and minimizing the use of plastic items.
