Podere Il Sorbo takes its name from the field on which it is located, evidently named so due to the large quantity of rowan trees that the labourers, coming at the beginning of the 20th century especially from Monte Amiata, came to "say it" that is, to eradicate to make room for new fertile fields for crops.
In fact, the farm was built in the 1950s with the agrarian reforms of the Maremma Authority and assigned to the sharecropper Ciacci Primo and his wife Amelia, who however had resided in the area with their family since the 19th century.
The farm then owned, in addition to the land, also sheep and cattle and subsequently underwent several modifications, following the changes in agricultural management and the takeover of the company by his son Pierangelo.
Today it presents itself as a rural villa renovated according to the typologies of vernacular architecture, while maintaining the original layout legible. The property extends for approximately 70 ha, between arable land, tree crops and Mediterranean scrub. We grow wheat, a small vegetable garden and produce wine and oil, the latter for direct sale.
In 2020, with the passing of the generation to our daughters, we decide to give life to our dream and combine our agricultural activity with that of Agritourism. We worked hard for 5 years to build, design and design the renovation of an old annex. The primary decision was to use traditional and eco-sustainable building materials: the fields were then combed in search of stones which were then split and selected to be suitable for exposed construction. We have favored the use of chestnut wood and hand-crafted bricks. The criterion for the interior design was that of sustainability: saving of drinking water, thanks to the use of toilets and showers with limited water flow; use of clean energy produced by a solar/photovoltaic system, restoration of antique furniture or purchase of furniture with material from renewable sources, consumption of plastic objects as limited as possible.
